Free Golden Memories Vintage Automobile

FLINT — The Friends of Sloan Longway is hosting a free vintage car show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 17 including amazing original and authentically restored vehicles from 1967 all the way back to the very earliest cars. September is preparedness month

FLINT – September is National Preparedness Month. This year’s theme is “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.” The Genesee County Health Department encourages individuals, businesses and communities to prepare for emergencies. Semi-Absentee Business Ownership

TeenQuest enrollment

FLINT – TeenQuest, a pre-employment and leadership training program designed to help young people navigate today’s competitive job market, has released its 2017-18 schedule.

The program will be offered four times this school year, and is open to all students, ages 14-19 in grades 9-12, in Genesee County. The first session will take place from Sept. 18 to Oct. 19 at:

• Bentley High School, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

• International Academy of Flint, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• Northwestern High School, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and

• Southwestern Classical Academy, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

TeenQuest teaches students how to get and keep a job. Teens learn how to write resumes, prepare for interviews and open personal checking/savings accounts. The program also places special emphasis on the development of soft skills including communication, conflict resolution and goal setting. Registration for the upcoming session ends Sept. 18.
